FAQ’s

Need help to find a way through things?

Families Talking has worked with children, young people and their parents for a long time and can help in various ways

We help Mums and Dads talk together

We help Mums and Dads to talk together and make arrangements that work for their family in our mediation service. We try to stop them fighting and passing messages through the children, and help them to understand what’s important for their children – then do it!
You can talk to the mediators too

As part of mediation we ask parents if their children (5 to 18 years old) would like an appointment with the mediator, so that you can talk in private about what’s important to you, and you can also decide whether you want the mediator to tell your Mum and Dad some of the important things. We have a leaflet about this called Our Voice in Mediation
Does it feel like no-one can help?

We have a children’s counselling service which helps children and young people who need someone to talk to for a longer period of time – 6 sessions – when nothing seems to be going right and it feels like no–one can help
We work in schools

We have been working in schools and giving information and support about family separation to children and young people directly in their school setting.
Lots of other people can help

Lots of people have worked hard to make information and help easy for young people to find and understand and this is a list of some of the best:

  2. www.coping-with-life.org.uk – offers information and publications
  3. www.thehideout.org.uk – Help and support for those experiencing violence in their home
  4. www.young-voice.org.uk – focuses on young people and what they are saying and feeling
