ECM Outcomes
To support schools in meeting the Every Child Matters outcomes, the principles of which will continue to inform best practice in working with children, we can demonstrate below the benefits of our interventions:
- Be Healthy Our work improves the mental, emotional and physical health of both children and adults. Problem solving, a neutral place to talk together with direct support all help to prevent the potential for damaging conflict, self-harm, self abusive behaviour, depression and other stress induced conditions
- Stay Safe Unhappy teenagers are often out of parental control and at risk of alcohol or drug misuse, participating in criminal activity or inappropriate sexual activity. Our work with parents can help to reinstate control, and our work with children and young people can directly help to restore a balance to their lives which reduces the risk taking behaviour
- Enjoy & Achieve School attendance, behaviour at school and performance are all early indicators of trouble in a child or young person's life at home. Help for the family or child, and access to information at school can all be vital in improving the young person’s achievement and later chances in life
- Make a Positive Contribution We can help young people to manage and respond to changes in their family lives, and support their emotional growth at a difficult time. This is the bedrock of contributing fully to their communities and to society
- Achieve Economic Well-being Family breakdown generally leads to a reduced income for at least one parent. Whilst we cannot prevent this, we can encourage the consideration of how best to spread scarce resources and continue to support children and their range of activities appropriately. By supporting young people and addressing their emotional needs, improvements in their educational performance become investments in their economic futures
Our work also complements the PSHE and SEAL elements of the curriculum.
